What Are Removable Partial Dentures?

Many of the dental woes of people have been satisfactorily resolved thanks to the effort made by the surgeons who practice cosmetic dentistry as an art from a specialized dental practice. There was a time when teeth deformities like breaks, chipped teeth, discoloration of teeth and gaps between the teeth were the main cause of embarrassment to individuals who did not have any option for overcoming this disorder.

The advances made in the field of cosmetic dentistry not only presented the people with a choice as regards the improvement of their teeth but also made the dentist and the dental practice an accessible and endearing area. There are various aspects of cosmetic dentistry of which the one related to complete as well as partial dentures (PD) is the most sought after field among people.

(PD) are dentures which are used to fill in the gaps left by the few missing teeth in such a manner that not only do the empty places get filled but the remaining teeth are also kept in their natural positions. The field of cosmetic dentistry features two types of partial dentures formerly the fixed (PD) and the removable (PD).

The fixed variety involves the permanent attachment of artificial teeth which bear a striking resemblance to the natural teeth in form of dental implants or bridges. Comparatively, the removable partial dentures, also known as removable dental bridges, consist of artificial teeth which are attached to the jaw with the help of a resin base material connected to a metal framework to keep the teeth in place. As every dentist would inform his patients, there are a number of varieties of removable partial dentures namely acrylic, cast chrome, partial and full dentures.

Immediate dentures are immediately all the cosmetic dentistry options since it is made of acrylic and is widely used in the dental practice for immediately replacing an extracted tooth. The cast chrome partial dentures are more stable as compared to the acrylic and composer of cast metal frameworks which are made from chrome cobalt. The flexible framework (PD) are a recent advancement in the field of cosmetic dentistry and consist of nylon-like unbreakable material which is pink in color. A complete denture which features all teeth on the denture.

Removable Dentures Versus Denture Implants

Losing your teeth in old age is a major inconvenience. Dentures are provided to provide a solution to this problem, but sometimes they may cause you more discomfort. One alternative is to replace them with denture implants.

The Problem with Dentures

Removable full or partial dentures are still the most common solution to replace missing teeth. While they may be more economic than implants, they may cause some problems. These include:

* Additional expenses for adhesives and cleaning solutions
* The embargo of dentures falling out or moving around while eating in public
* Sore or irritated gums
* The inconvenience of having to remove them before going to sleep every night

Denture Implants

Many people believe they need to have individual dental implants installed to fix their lost teeth. While this was true in the past, all on four implants changed everything.

All-in-4 implants, created by Portuguese dentist Paulo Malo, involve the installation of four implants in your upper or lower jaw. Full rows of dentures are then mounted on these implants. A set of four implants is enough to support around 12-14 teeth.

The Advantages of Denture Implants

Removable dentures are no match for the benefits permanent implants provide. For one thing, they look and feel exactly like your natural teeth. Many removable dentures look unnatural and fake. Reliable dentists providing all-on-four implants take your facial structure, age, and skin tone into account when making your new teeth. This ensures your teeth look natural while providing a bright smile.

The four implants hold your dentures in place securely without causing you discomfort. You no longer have to use dental adhesives, or regularly adjust your dentures in your mouth. They will not press down on your gums when you chew. This allows you to enjoy all your favorite food without having to worry about your dentures moving out of place.

Denture implants are much easier to take care of. When using removable dentures, you have to soak them in cleaning solution every night to keep them moist as you sleep. You may also need specific types of brushes and toothpaste to clean them on a daily basis. All on four implants only require regular brushing and flossing, just like natural teeth would.

Implants require a certain amount of bone mass to adhere to. Senior citizens and individuals suffering from periodontal disease often have lower bone mass than other patients. If your bone mass does not meet the requirement, your dentist has to perform a bone grafting operation to remedy the problem. This procedure is often painful and may require months of healing.

Permanent dentures are effective for everyone, even people with low jawbone mass. The four implants are angled in a certain way, which allows them to act as a solid foundation for your dentures regardless of your jawbone's density.
